Build Community with Us!
Caring Friends
If you enjoy cooking for others, serving the homeless, writing notes or knitting, you might enjoy taking part in this ministry.
Volunteers collaboratively choose what work to engage in.
Past projects have included:
• knitting afghans for folks experiencing loss
• providing meals for New Gardeners recuperating from illness
• writing notes of support, making calls, and visiting people in the community grieving or recovering from illness
This program is coordinated by the Meeting on Ministry & Counsel. Contact the office to learn more.
Meals for the
Homeless
This ministry occurs on the first Tuesday of each month.
Every month, New Garden volunteers provide a nourishing meal to feed Greensboro’s homeless community.
Food is usually prepared at the volunteers’ homes, then transported to the kitchen in Fellowship Hall. From there, volunteers deliver the food to Greensboro Urban Ministry’s downtown headquarters, where it is served to clients in the dining hall.

Friendship Community Partnership
This partnership seeks to build relationship across racial and denominational lines, growing appreciation for each other’s faith traditions and serving needs of people in our community.
Established in 2010, this partnership consists of five congregations representing four denominations:
Several times throughout the year, congregations join together for worship, fellowship, service, and fun through events such as joint worship services, collaborative gardening, and a harvest festival.
Though our worship styles vary, we have found common ground among our congregations as we seek to build community in the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr. Contact the office for more information.
Healing Prayer Group
Meeting at retirement village Friends Homes Guilford, we gather weekly as Friends to hold others in the Light.
In addition to lifting up the cares and concerns of our Friends, participants write cards of support and condolences to those in the New Garden community who are facing illness or loss.
